Patience is a virtue that I find hard to achieve.



They say good things come to those who wait, but I am always obsessed with the when.



An important tip: NEVER pray for patience, you will only be given the opportunity to practice it.

But, to totally contradict myself, I tend to pray for patience over strength. If the Gods gave me strength I'd probably strangle the life out of whom ever was testing my patience. :D

The patience thing had NOTHING to do with the "Sentoranization".



I am STILL waiting for the things that require patience, and I am doing much better with it.





 

Camp Rock Enon

Boy Scout Camp with my son's troop was quite an adventure this year.



After a 5 hour drive we checked in to find that we were put in a campsite with 2 other troops and we all wouldn't fit! Lots of gnashing of teeth and intense negotiations between the three troops finally resolved everything with another troop moving to share a site with yet another troop.



Highlights of the week:



David earned 4 Merit Badges - Two required for Eagle rank - First Aid, Citizenship in the World, Space Exploration and Archery.



It rained Sunday night, Monday night, Tuesday night and all day Wednesday!



My tent leaked like a sieve.



The camp lost electric service from about 3:00 AM to 5:00PM Wednesday due to severe thunderstorms.



It was about 95 degrees each day with a heat index of 110.



And this one for Art...We saw a Black Bear roaming around the woods of the camp, luckily it didn't come into our camp site!



Well, that's about it from this years camp experience. Some photos will be in my Portfolio when I get around o resizing them.

Restored hope

Sometimes I get despondant over the state of the membership of VR. There are whinners, troublemakers and drama seekers aplenty.



Today I ran across two members who have restored my hope...GREAT members are out there at all levels.



I answered an Acolyte question for bleedingforyou this morning. She had purchased a Premium Membership and was wondering how long it would take to be activated. I explained how it works and asked for her patience. She was getting very excited at the prospects of the PM. It was activated and then she politely messaged me for some assistance in setting up her PM profile.



I also answered an Acolyte question from vampyregoddess74 a brandy-new Whelp, regarding biting. Se has since asked several questions and I have directed her where to find the information she was seeking.



Both of these members were polite, well mannered and all around a pleasure to deal with.



There was no demanding, no whinning, no accusations, no attitude whatsoever.



Truly refreshing!

Have you ever felt just out of sync with your world?



You tell a joke and no one laughs.



You pass a group of aquaintences and no one says hello.



You feel invisible, disconnected and uninspired.



That's how I've been feeling of late, and I just can't put my finger on why. Am I changing? Am I out of touch? Or is it everyone around me?



I can't wait for vacation, perhaps a break from the day - to -day will set things aright.

Big Italian Wedding!

Saturday we went to the wedding of Gina's cousin's daughter.



The church service was in Connecticut. Actually it was about 2 miles from the stable where I used to keep my horde back before Gina and I met. The ceremony was very nice and was over in about 30 min.



The ceremony took place at 3:00. The reception was in Westchester, County, NY (about 25 miles away) and dind't start until 6:00. So we stopped back at Gina's dad's house for an hour or so before we headed to the reception.



The reception was held at a very nice beach club on Long Island Sound. They started the reception outide on a patio, overlooking the water. They, of course, had an open bar and a large spread of Antipasta. There was pasta with chicken, sausage and peppers, stuffed eggplant, cocktail shrimp, fried calamari, mixed fruit, mozzarella balls, roasted vegetables (red peppers, mushrooms, artichoke hearts) and mixed cold cuts (soprasotta, mortadella, pepperoni and salami), and cheeses. They also had "waiter passed" appitizers (mozzarella sticks, spanicopita, mini quiche and cheese puffs). Like I said...This was just the appitizers!



After about an hour and a half outside we went in to the main room for the rest of the reception. We sat with Gina's Brother and his wife, one of Gina's cousins and his wife and two other couples we didn't know. They had a DJ and for the most part they played a nice mix of classic rock tunes.



For dinner we had cantalope with mixed berries, pene pasta in vodka sauce, salad, a choice of chateubriand, chicken marsala or grilled salmon, wedding cake and Italian pasteries with coffee or esspresso. Very nice!



The bride, of cousre was beautiful. She is a year older than our oldest daughter Allie. It certainly got Gina and I thinking that we likely do not have long before we have to go through this! Her new husband seemed like a very nice guy. The way they interacted with each other and with each other's new wierd relatives spoke well of how they should live their lives together.



In stead of the traditional throwing the bouquet and garter they did something with the married couple in attendance. They started with all married couples on the dance floor dancing. Then they had couples leave the dance floor based on how long they were married. They ended up with a couple who had been married for 54 years! They then told the newlyweds to look at them as an example of how their marraige could be.



We ended up having a great time. Gina was a good girl and stuck with sprite and cranberry juice. I, on the other hand, put away quite a few crisp and delicious Tanqueray and Tonics!

Stuck at work this evening.



I am supposed to be at my Son's Boy Scout Trop meeting, as I am in charge of the summer camp trip and this meeting is the main planning session.



But the proverbial shit has hit the fan here at work and, as usual, I am the one left to babysit and run experiments while everyone else who caused the f'ed up situation is home with their families.



The R&D group had a key component of our product changed to one that is "easier to process" and "More cost effective". As usual they did one or two tests and deemed it ready to go. Despite my protests the managment decided the savings will be so great we must switch immediatly! I asked did we test it on product A, product B, product C??? The answer I get was that it was "extensivly tested" and "will be fine".



Guess what, It doesn't work on product A...We had to send technician to rebuild some customer's equipment to make it work on product A. Yesterday we found out that it doesn't work on product B. We have $200,000.00 worth of product B that can be used as a boat anchor. And the customer was expecting it today!



So here I am, waiting to run an experiment that is going to take at least 3 hours. But the job on the equipment before the experiment, that , when I came in EARLY this morning I was told would be done by noon, is still on the equipment.



GRRRRRRR!

A brief explaination of the symbolism. Those who are fellow "Eternalites" will recognize the Oroborus, which represents The cyclic nature of life. The greek letters within...Alpha and Omega are taken from Revelation 1:8 wherein Christ says "I am the Alpha and Omega, The First and Last". This implies a distinct start and end to existance in juxtaposition to the cyclic nature of life on Earth.



I wanted to add a Yin-Yang symbol within the circle of the Oroborus, behind the greek letters, but my tattoo artist convinced me that that would make it "too busy". So now I need to think of another symbol to go with the Yin-Yang for my other arm.

So very fitting... but to help you in your thoughts: The Oroborus is actually similar to the Yin/Yang symbol as it consumes itself. The idea of Yin/yang is that they are mutually supporting and consuming. So, in a way you already have it! :)

My tattoo

So, I finally got my tattoo today. It took almost two hours to do.



I was expecting it to really hurt, based on what others have said, but it barly hurt at all. I was quite nervous that I would move, especially as the artist was very funny and kept making me laugh. I was sure I was going to move my arm while he was working and fuck the whole thing up.



I must appologize, but I won't be able to post a picture until tomorrow. I took some, but I can't find the damned base that the camera sits in to transfer the photos off of my camera!



I guess Y'all will just have to remain in suspense!

I was supposed to get a tattoo today. Gina and I had an appointment at 1:30 to each get a tattoo. Gina was getting a dragonfly on her shoulder o cover a scar she has from some surgery she had a few years ago. I was getting a more intricate symbolic piece on my arm.



When we walk in the guy at the desk said "Oh, someone called last week and cancelled the 1:30 appointment today. I was aghast, as I had taken the afternoon off of work to get this done. The artist was very appologetic and had no idea what happened, as someone else took the call and cancelled our appointment. As he though we cancelled, he did not do the drawing for mine. Gina, at least, was able to get hers done.



I now have to wait until Saturday...but as a "peace offering" he is giving me a significant discount on mine.



I will let y'all know how it goes on Saturday and post a picture.
